Your project journey:
a two-way street

At The Bon Collective, our focus is on a collaborative, action-oriented design process, where trust and nurturing relationships take centre stage. We take you on a journey whilst developing your scheme, committing to you from the beginning of a project and beyond.

A long term partnership

We empower you to become part of The Bon Collective. We listen to your brief, challenges and ambitions, ensuring your thoughts are woven into our design solutions. We prioritise and ensure that you feel heard and understood.

Through this experience, we generously deliver sophisticated, unexpected atmospheres with a true sense of longevity.

We invite you to become part of our collective through our 7 step project design process:

  • 1. Understanding Your Brief

We always start as we mean to go on. For each new project, we begin by spending time with you. We listen to your practical needs, ideas and hopes for your space. We work through a set of questions, helping us understand how we can design a space seamlessly reflecting either your organisation or your lifestyle. If your project involves an architectural element, this will run in parallel to the architectural brief. Our aim is to holistically understand your budget, timeframe and challenges, so we can develop an initial scope of work. We conduct a site survey, acting as a foundation for our concept and design development.

  • 2. Concept Design

Using the information collected during the brief stage, we commence our concept design. We study ways to optimise the layout of your space, putting together concept boards to visually portray the scheme, selecting samples of materials for each area. We also craft furniture and lighting boards, and sketch perspective visuals to give an insight into how your potential space could look. Proposals are prepared and regular design reviews are held in order to make sure the design is on the right track. We take you through these in person, in a casual and collaborative way. Your feedback helps us develop this design further and informs the direction we choose with materials, fixtures, fittings and furnishings.

  • 3. Design Development

As we progress through your project journey, we will begin to develop the design in more detail. During this phase, a budget is created to assign costs to each facet of your project, no matter how big or small. This detail makes sure we aren’t designing beyond your expectations and helps us assign costs to areas you place most value upon. In this stage, suppliers and contractors may be consulted to ensure that designs are feasible. Project strategies are updated, and a high level building regulations review is carried out. As our understanding of the costs begins to crystallise, we further refine the options for final sign off.

  • 4. Technical Design

From here, once the floor plan layouts are agreed and procurement items signed off, we will develop technical interior design drawings for use during the construction stage. This includes setting out electrical plans, elevations and detailed drawings. These construction drawings, combined with a set of detailed schedules, are essential for fully explaining our design to the site team and contain critical information for the coordination and installation of services, products and finishes. When this is completed, we will present the finished package to you before passing the information on to the selected contractors. Once a review of the drawings is undertaken with the site team, we can be confident in quantities and measurements, and commence the procurement process.

  • 5. Construction

This is where your project will really begin to take flight. During the construction stage, we will keep a close track of the physical construction work on your project. We will consistently review the quality and compliance with the design as it is tangibly implemented. We will be your dedicated eyes and ears on site - your design guardians - so you can have peace of mind that the project is coming to life as we have imagined together.

  • 6. Handover, In-Use & Aftercare

This is likely the most exciting stage for someone completing their own project. This is the stage in which the building or space is handed over to you after the build completes, any remaining building contracts are concluded and the aftercare support is initiated. We will ensure that every project detail has been resolved ahead of your design project going ‘live’ and we will be there to hold your hand through the process of getting to know, and using, your new space.

  • 7. Interior Styling

We all know the devil is in the detail, so we ensure to complement a typical project journey. We remember the finer points that help with completing an interior space, leaving no stone unturned: the thread that brings everything together. We work with you meticulously on the polishing of your space, from curation and selection of furniture or artwork, through to planting schemes and accessories styling. From large-scale FF&E planning, or selection of individual pieces and materials in a smaller environment, each project is uniquely tailored.

Our focus is on a collaborative, action-oriented design process, where trust and nurturing relationships take centre stage.
